Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM & WS), Nunwan, Pahalgam (J&K), is a joint venture between Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India and Deptt. Of Tourism, Govt of J&K, and it has excelled in conducting adventure activities like Mountaineering, Skiing, Trekking, Rescue Operations, Water Rafting, Paragliding and Expeditions for the students coming from different parts and states of India over the past twenty Eight years.

Age Limit:
Mountaineering/Water rafting/ Paragliding - 18 to 40 years
Adhoc Adventure/ Adventure - 12 to 55 years
Senior Citizen (Adhoc Adventure) - 60 years above
Skiing - 10 to 60 years
Physical fitness: Though no special training is necessary to join the courses, thestudents are advised to do jogging and long walks. They should be physically fit and mentally robust and be able to with stand the rigors of snow and high altitude student should be medically fit. Individuals with respiratory and cardiac diseases are advised to not to volunteer for high altitude, physically demanding courses. Medical checkup by Medical officer of the Institute will be done on arrival.
Advance of Payment For private students the fee can be paid in advance by filling up the application form obtained by paying Rs.l00/- Bank draft. For Institutes / large groups the courses/can be booked on payment of 50% of the total fee in advance.

Meditation Facilities in Jammu Kasmir
The Mahabodhi International Meditation (MIM) Centre situated near Choglamsar, Leh, offers regular courses in various forms of meditation under the supervision of trained teachers. The MIM Centre’s facilities are quite good and the charges are nominal, sufficient to cover the cost of food. The Centre also runs a branch within Leh town at Changspa.
